GMAPJ announces appointment of new President

Tokyo – General Motors Asia Pacific (Japan) has announced the appointment of Sumito Ishii, currently GM Japan Director Aftersales, to the position as Managing Director of GM Asia Pacific (Japan) as a successor for Rick Brown effective January 1, 2010.

Ishii started working for GM Japan in January 1996, joining the Saturn Project. Since then, his experience has included working in the service division at the U.S. headquarters for four years and a half. In May 2005, he was appointed to his current position of Director Aftersales, GM Japan.

In his current position, Ishii has supervised GM Japan’s operations related to vehicle processing center for GM vehicles, repair parts, call center, training center, technological support for dealers, certification, and recall and quality control. He also contributed in providing engineering support for the launch of Chevrolet Camaro in the Japanese market.

Rick Brown will be appointed to Alliance Director, New Business Development and Alliance Management, GM International Operations (GMIO), effective January 1, 2010.
